Two Surprises

Tomorrow will be eight weeks that we have called this new place "home".  In some ways it does feel like it, and in so many ways I feel like I've been plopped down in a very foreign place, where I'm playing a game without being introduced to the rules.  Our family has found a bit of rhythm, an unhurried one, allowing the request for one more book to be usually granted.  We are slowly finding our way into others' lives too.

And, speaking of slowly, I feel like I've been given two unexpected gifts.  Our walls feel so tall, like they are often blocking out life.  Still, life is to be discovered within our given places.  As spring approaches two lives have dug themselves up from winter's hiding.  How could anything get inside these walls?  Well, like Lowly and Slow Shell, we hope lots of life finds its way into our walls.

Seth spent an afternoon watching what he ate and offering him more of the same.

We have no side yards, so the only way to get the extra dirt from the backyard to the front is through the center of the house.

Around Our Place

Our household goods and groceries (consumables as they are properly called) arrived last week.  The kids were very excited to see some of their old stuff, especially the books.  I too was excited to see some of my own stuff, the memory foam for the crazy hard beds here and my cooking stuff, to name two.  The consumables are a nice addition.  They make last minute meals a possibility.

We've been unpacking lots and enjoying our patch of grass as much as we can, no matter what the weather.

Thanks to new boxes, our bigger and better basement fort

My little grocery store (The Perry Prodamog, for those of you who speak a bit of Russian)

Max was delighted to be able to join the big boys in the wagon.  Check out that RED hair!

Two days later, from short sleeves to snow.  A little snow tee ball.

Seth has moved up to slow pitch snow balls.
