Welcome to Podgorica

We have arrived.  Yesterday marks 3 weeks.  We are new and new is always hard, but we are putting one foot in front of the other.

We have ventured out of our little compound as much as possible considering it is crazy hot and we have to take taxis.  So many taxi drivers- Nikola, Milan, Damir, Amir, Boban, Boyan - to name a few.

We have found a few restaurants.  Mostly delicious but have learned to not go extra hungry or hurried because it will be a bit till food makes it to the table.  We have even managed home delivery pizza.  A major victory!

We have been to all the major grocery stores and still find almost everything we need at the fruit and veggie seller across the street.  So fresh, mostly delicious and to our tastes.

We joined the embassy our first Saturday for a tour of nearby Lipa Cave.

This past Saturday we took a rental car to Beogradska Lake a couple hours outside of the city.  We hiked around the lake and enjoyed cooling off in the mountains and being away from a city.

But the real adventure for the day was the road less traveled that we chose for our return route.  The way to the lake had been truly frightening as people travel fast and pass in completely unsafe and unpredictable ways.  We think the sign on the entrance to our return route said autos must be less than 5' wide, or something like that.  It was one lane (2-way traffic), on the side of a mountain, no railings, and the occasional construction vehicle.  It was terrifying.  The pictures cannot convey the experience but you can see the "safety" barriers that were along the cliffs.  I also attempted to clip a section of the map.  We made a memory.
